A capital portuguesa foi quase destruída em sua totalidade pelo terrível terremoto de novembro de 1755 e reconstruída de acordo com os planos de Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, o Marquês de Pombal, que teria dito de pronto: ‘é necessário enterrar os mortos, cuidar dos vivos e reconstruir a cidade’.

Minha visita a Lisboa foi relâmpago: uma conexão de 9 horas de duração, entre Brasília e Roma.

The Portuguese capital was almost completely destroyed by the terrible earthquake of November, 1755 and rebuilt according to the plans of Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, the Marquês de Pombal, that would have promptly said: ‘it is needed to bury the dead ones, care for the living ones and rebuilt the city’.

My visit to Lisbon was short: a 9-hour-long connection between Brasilia and Rome.
